Muslims Across The Globe: Cathedral Mosque In Moscow, Russia

Cathedral mosque was originally named as Tatar Mosque, which was built in 1904. This was demolished in 2011 and a new mosque was built at the site. It was officially inaugurated on 23 September 2015. The new mosque can accommodate ten thousand worshipers. Russian president Vladimir Putin, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdo─čan and Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Territories along with local Muslims, participated in the inauguration ceremony.[3]
